About the Burlington Minor Football AssociationThe Burlington Minor Football Association is a "not for profit" community based volunteer run organization. Our Association was established in 1966 and has a rich history. The BMFA provides Minor and Jr. football in the Region of Halton (Burlington, Oakville, Milton) and surrounding communities. Over the years it has garnered a reputation of being “The Best Football in Halton”.
Our objective is to provide football for our members from the age of 6 to 22. We field 65 + teams per year within our various programs (Spring Flag, Fall House League Tackle and our Stampeders Rep. teams). Our Alumni have graduated to play in the CIS, NCAA, CFL and NFL. Our success is attributed to the quality of our coaching and our passion for the game. Football is the ultimate team sport. It teaches many of life’s lessons such as teamwork, respect for authority, hardwork, dedication, perseverance, trust, …
A Snapshot of Our Programs:
Spring Flag Football:
This program always sells out, the players love it!!!
The non-contact 7 on 7 Flag Football program is for boys and girls from the age of 6 to 17. The season runs from April to the end of June ending before school summer vacation.
Our flag league is developmental and is a great introduction to the game of football and is lots of fun!
All games are played on Saturday’s and the occasional week night in Burlington. Teams consist of 10 to 14 players depending on the age and usually practice at least once during the week. Halton and surrounding community players including Oakville, Milton and Georgetown are usually selected to teams as close to their home as possible. Practice Times and locations are held at the Coaches discretion.

Spring/Summer Rep Tackle: Bantam, Jr. Varsity & Varsity Stampeders
Competitive Contact Football, boys aged 13-18. The season runs from March until August. These teams play competitive football at the highest level in the Province. Teams travel by bus to away games. Home games are played in Burlington. Our Summer Stampeders play in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).
These teams prepare boys for fall Rep. or High School play. Almost all of these players will play on their Junior or Senior High School teams throughout Halton and will be preparing for their sophomore, junior and/or senior year in High School athletics. Many OUA Scouts attend these H.S, and BMFA games,
Fall House League Tackle:
The BMFA house league tackle program is very popular for players and parents.
Our program is full equipment contact football for boys and girls aged 6 to 14. The teams are picked by the end of July and practices start before Labour Day at the Coaches discretion. The season runs from from the second weekend in September to Mid November. All equipment is supplied by the BMFA with the exception of football cleats (shoes) and a football girdle which is optional (but recommended) and can be purchased from the BMFA at registraion or at equipment fitting for about $20.00. At the end of the season, the players keep their game and practice jerseys. All games are on Saturday mornings in Burlington and the occasional week night game (it was “Monday Night Football” at the Corpus Christi H.S. turf field this past season).
Teams consist of 20 to 24 players and usually practice at least twice during the week. Halton and surrounding community players including Oakville, Milton and Georgetown are usually selected to teams as close to their home as possible. Practice Times and locations are held at the Coaches discretion.
In June we host a “Rookie Camp” for players entering their first season. These new players will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game and positions - and even learn how to put on their equipment on properly. In June, we also host a mandatory “Assessment Camp” where each House League player, Tykes excluded, will be assessed by unbiased tenured coaches. These added value days are included in your HL fees.

Fall Rep tackle: Atom, Peewee & Bantam Stampeders (APB Program)
Competitive Contact Football, boys aged 9-14. Spring tryouts are in May (Mother's Day) through to June (Father's Day) at which point the rosters are decided (A player who wants to tryout for any of the Fall 'ABP" Stamps teams must be registered to play in our House League in order to attend the Fall Stamps tryouts). These teams play at the highest level in the Province. Players that make the team come back to start training camp in early August. Players that don’t make the team are guaranteed a spot on a Fall House League (H.L.)team.
The beauty of this option is that all players are welcome and get their equipment early, even if the player or family has no intention of playing at the Rep Level. The coaching and conditioning in the COMFL Spring Tryout Camps will make a player better prepared for fall H.L. Teams. The APB teams travel on buses to away games with home games played in Burlington. We play in the Central Ontario Minor Football League (COMFL) in this program. Please note that both of the Halton Regional School Boards dictate that a student/athlete may not play Fall Rep. and High School football concurrently. We find that many Grade 9 student/athletes elect to play on the Bantam (Formerly known as Peewee) Stampeders in the summer and fall to further their skills in preparation for their Jr. and Sr. High School teams.
Also, please note the division names and age brackets (Please see the News Tab above for detail).
Junior:
Competitive Contact Football, men aged 17-22. Season runs July-November. Teams travel on bus to away games. We play in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). For Information please see the Braves Tab above.
